Something is wrong with the select tool. When I try selecting an object while I'm drawing it selects a completely different object. What happened?

I honestly don't understand the recent update. Nearly every art and animation app start you off on a white canvas, and it feels completely natural to draw and animate on it, but for some reason it's been treated as a bug here? The checkered grid is very distracting to me and it's my least favorite part of the app. There is an option in the drawing properties to change the background color, but it doesn't seem to change the background at all. That seems more like a bug to me. I hope it can be fixed soon. I was loving this app before the last update!

This app is exactly what I am looking for. Layers. Vectors + Drawing. Frame by frame + Pathways I downloaded it and was having a ton of fun getting to know the app when it crashed so badly it won't even open. I tried everything and ultimately had to delete and re-install, losing all of my first time doodles.

This is BY FAR the best animation app i have used, though there's one major problem- no audio. Even a simple recorder built into the app would sufice so that I could que the motions for the sound, but there's absolutely no way to do that... Add audio and this is undoubtedly a five star app! I would really love to make YouTube videos with this app and having paid money for this I am very disappointed that I can't do what I wanted to do with it. Please consider adding this feature as it is the only thing keeping me from recommending this app over AnimationCreator.

The calibration is pretty off nowadays for it, and I know it's not my Pencil! otherwise it's an amazing app. I've been thrilled to use it for the past three years. Great work. Can you work on layer transparency though? So you can set it to be a certain transparency in the animation itself.

The animation app is really good and it has helped me make my own series but when I try to save a video, when ever I am waiting and the thing is loading, it crashes all the time. I have enough storage but I have more than 3000 frames but the animation only lasts for 7.5 minuets. I really want to save this animation but I don't want to delete it or have to make a separate animation. Please make an update so we can save animations with more frames or can you tell me a way to fix this please without deleting the app and reinstalling it.

Overall I like using this software. As someone doing animation for fun, it gives me enough tools to get what ever I want done with out to much in the way as far as UI or a high price. But let's talk about the different part of the app that you might be interested in: Drawing experience: doink uses vector based lines so it's not going to give you the same drawing experience as something like procreate which is a raster based drawing program. You can use the gradient tool for a shading fill but without a lot of effort you can't do a lot of blending or high detail work. It's not built for it and will have a bad time. What it is good for is it's line smoothing which helps keep line work more consistent from frame to frame. The vector lines also mean with closed shapes you rarely get any weird gaps and if you do they can be fixed. There are layers if you want to do more complex sketches (they are at the top of your drawing area). I wouldn't call this a drawing app but it can work as one. This ok drawing part is made up for by this being the only app I've found that lets me pull in outside work to use for backgrounds. So if you really love painting your background, or you just want to animate a part of a character you can import things drawn elsewhere. Animation: Doink offers two ways of animating, the normal frame-by-frame I've seen in most iOS offerings and composition mode. As far as frame by frame the app is usable. The UI is a little fiddly with some functions like rearranging frames but it works. I haven't had as many crashing issues with larger animations as I have with some other apps and you can change things like aspect ratios on the fly. Frame by frame animations are saved as 'clips' that can be used in composition mode or exported as is. Where animation in this app really shines is in composition mode. Composition mode lets you bring in photos or drawings from other apps and add animation to them. The best way I can explain this part of the app is the way Disney used a multi plane camera to make their animations like Snow White. The characters, background and fore ground can all appear in the same frame and be moved independently. This is awesome as it allows you to paint backgrounds or static characters in outside software and still use it in your animations. Want to add a static painted background to your characters talking to each Other? Import it and go. You can also import in pictures to your frame by frame to fit characters into scenes. There are great examples of both of these in some YouTube tutorials. This app does not offer audio syncing which would be nice but overall it's one of my favorite options on the App Store. As a hobby animator this app lets me do things that save me a lot of time and gives me flexibility to use my own art or photos and give them more life. Tl;Dr this is an ok drawing app but offers two ways of animating, one that lets you pull outside images and animate over them which seems to be unique on the iPad. I would recommend this just for that function. As along as you're willing to learn the software it can do some very interesting and unique things.

It's awesome for vector art! (Probably not the intention) However, drawing any other way is very limited. It's a very simple app to animate and I honestly like it. I use it the most, but I wish there was more.

This app is great. It has so many features and tools, and it's so fun to use. But I do have a few suggestions. - There should be an option to merge objects. I know there is a grouping option, and that's great. But the problem I have with it is that I make stick figure animations, and I want the stick figures to have a solid outline, without having to draw the outline, because then it technically wouldn't be a stick figure. But when I select all parts of the stick figure and add stroke properties, it adds them to all the shapes used in the stick figure, and not a solid outline around the stick figure. If I could merge the objects into one, this wouldn't be an issue. - V-Cam. I understand that you can do camera movement in the composition editor, but I don't like using it very much. It looks weird in the animation. There are certain times where it is useful though, so I recommend you keep it, but I would still like to be able to animate camera movement without it looking so robotic. Now, here are some more minor things that I would like in the next update. - Blur effects - More brushes. Ex. Airbrush, effect tools, marker. Overall, this app is amazing. It's by far the best animation app on the App Store, in my opinion. These are just little suggestions, and you don't have to add them. Thank you for reading :) EDIT: I recently came across a bug where I can't use the undo button unless I undo the very first action I take. If I don't undo after the first action, I can't undo until I delete the app from my history. If this was fixed I would appreciate it :D EDIT #2: I figured out that the undo bug wasn't like I thought it was. I don't have to undo the first action, but once I get into the app, it will only let me undo for some time of animating before the button stops working. Then I have to close out of the app and go back in in order for the undo button to work again. The app was updated recently, but the bug still wasn't fixed. If it was fixed in the next update that would be great :)

I downloaded this a while back and immediately disregarded it because I was stupid at the time... didn't try it long enough to give it a chance. I recently downloaded it again because I was a little dissatisfied with Sketchbook Move and HOLY SH*T.... playing around with this app made me realize how powerful this app is. You've got flash animation on an iPad and vector capabilities of Illustrator. This App is severely underrated and I'm surprised not a lot of people have rated or used it all this time. ***Edit Using this app a lot now, there's some stuff that would be great to fix or add! - crashes or freezes a bit! For example, using undo sometimes causes app to freeze up, crash, and wipe out the work I've done. I've lost a bit of work with this happening! Stability fixes could make work progress more efficient :) - is there a way to join 2 separate anchor points? If not, can they be added in? - importing of videos so that we can draw on videos! - ability to rearrange frames on timeline of drawing canvas clicking, holding, then moving! - ability to export as gif file! - opacity options would be awesome to be able to animate in composition - ability to change the point of rotation would open up sooooo much possibilities for animating, like puppeting! And still, 5 stars despite these minor setbacks. This app has so much potential!

This app is so good! Easy to learn and flexible. I am an animator and I will pay more to support the developers to upgrade the app to be more professional. - I am using a big ipad and wish it had an option to arrange some tools on the left side rather than the bottom. It will save my wrist /shoulder pain because I will be able to navigate with my left hand while I am drawing with my right hand . -I wish it had a function of rearranging frames. For example, move 2nd frame to first frame and etc. -need layer option - multiply, screen and etc Thank you so much for the awesome app. Hope that more people use this app, so can be developed further. I love the app. Btw, I love checker /transparency background. I think that it is more professional to use. I have to use more to see if it has any bugs. So far so good.

Since the recent updates the app runs smoother and has become really useful, especially with the image sequence export option. The interface is really user friendly once you get to know it. Not too plain but not over designed either and gives you lots of space to work. I like animating in vector format, and this is the only app that offers it. Nevertheless, a few things would make it better. The most significant thing would be to allow the export of an svg sequence. There is an svg option, but only for an animated svg. I would like to be able to export all my drawings in vector format so I can import them to other vector animation programs on my computer for further editing. I can't do this with an animated svg, since the file imports with all the drawings in a single frame, which makes a jumbled mess. Second, the strokes of the pencil tool automatically smooth out, which is fine, but it would be good to allow us to control the level of smoothing, because at the current level it's really hard to get a detailed drawing, since it tries to smooth out subtle curves that I mean to be there. If this option is available, I can't find it. Finally, also with the pencil tool, when the edges of a curve are really close together, it automatically closes the loop, which makes it hard to draw small thin things like fingers. All in all, it's a great app, one of the few that actually works well on the iPad, but these changes would make it a lot more useful.

As a profesional animator I have to say this app is close to be the best animation app in the store. It is to my knowledge the only vector based animation app in the store (which is great for me since I'm a Flash/Toon Boom animator) I am able to animate very fast with it. The simplicity of the app is definitely a plus. But it needs to be implemented with a few more basic key features like camera, audio support, PNG image sequence export, custom color palettes and also more control over keyframes in the compositing area (copy, paste, timing interpolation etc...)..this is a lot of fun and I strongly recommend it this App!....keep up the great work and improvement of this app!!!.

...but the bugs and glitches have almost completely ruined it for me, its impossible to make something without losing all my progress on something because I wanted to erase a line. Please fix these bugs or else I would be constantly thinking i wasted 5 bucks on this stuff. And for some other stuff, I would like some sort of folder to store certain projects. And perhaps put a 'recently deleted' folder, because it is very easy to delete an animation that I have worked long on. Would give 5 stars if you please fix these bugs.

This app is amazing but there is one thing wrong with it. The thing that are making me frustrated is that you can't add audio!!! There is no point in animating if you can't add music to back it up or add a voice over ;(

It's easy to use and all, but I'm having a few issues. I'm barely at 60 frames, and I can't watch it the whole the once, then half of it wont load? As I add more frames it gets harder to draw with. It kind of lags and makes lines instead of curves, and the undo is super slow. Im patient with it because it's one of the best I've used, but it needs fixing. Often I have to swipe out because it freezes up. I'm going to split up areas to the song so I can at least finish the animation. It would probably be in your best interest to fix these issues, if you want people to share their animations, maybe you'd be able to get more downloads?

Listen this app is great but it might be better if you added sound (I don't know if there can be added sound yet I just got it) and be able to record your own voice. Also if you added a zoom in and out option that will be great. So good app overall.

This is a great app! It's say to use and there's key frames. I wonder if you can add sound to them. Like, to add sound into your animation and animate over it. That should be great!

Been trying out animation apps, and this one is my favorite by far. Everything just makes sense. The other apps I've tried just tend to over complicate things. I really love how the layers and onion skinning works. The only complaint I have is the need for customizing color palettes. A good work around I've found for this is to create a layer that has color squares which you can then sample using the color picker.

They need to fix some things with the art tools. Merging layers...Better line correction....the eraser erases every layer...If they fix this, this could be the best animating app out there. But it'll probably never get done

Update: It makes no sense that this app still has no png image sequence export. Old Review: Design is still not what it should be, but getting better. Icons are too small, placement is a but wonky. NO PNG ANIMATION SEQUENCE export... Still? I wanted to use this with gamepress, but it doesn't export png as animation sequence. Just a tip. No pen tool? If so, it sure is hard to find. No, it doesn't top other vector apps like Inkpad and especially not Touchdraw.

Using my finger and the Apple Pencil for the app, whenever I start to draw something, it makes a straight line, then it starts to draw/curve normally. I believe this is considered lagging. Even if it's not lagging, but may you fix this annoying bug? Thank you!

I have used this for sometime. It is a lot of fun and powerful too. In fact it's the best animation app I've found on the iPad. Even though it was developed for kids. My wish is for the developers create a 'Pro' version, building on this great app. I know I would pay a lot more for that. I always come back to this sweet app. Fixed iPad Pro issue, thanks!

Ipad pro, When I try to save the movie to camera roll, it exits the app and does nothing. Have to be sure of this before putting lots of time in. The vector brush and Fill are nice. It would be cool to be able to export vectors ( as something Adobe could import )

It's simple and works really well. One problem I have with it though is that when I import a picture from my photo gallery to use as a background in a composition, the background will sometimes disappear after I close the composition and go back to look at it.

My son and I love the app. We have use this for 3 on and off for animation projects. As we learned more about how to use it, we liked it more. The price of app is fairly low for the functionalities. There are glitches every now and then, but overall quite good.

I love this but this will be kinda short..first, the tutorial tells you not shows you and so I quit that and played around still confused I'm making my way but next update I suggested you change the tutorial :). Second: I was ready to import a picture to green-screen.. and when I imported the pic to the folder yadah yadah ..I put it out and half of it wasn't even imported...it was ridiculous and I was upset as I made the green screen all over again still didn't work...I had everything and I realized it was the animation app I will not rate 5 if this isn't fake until than 👍👍👍 & 👎🏻👎🏻

For some reason almost a week ago the whole background for the drawings are white instead of the grid, and it bugs out when I try to color with the fill tool a certain part of the drawing and it also the eye dropper tool didn't pick up the color when I finally colored the in the space with the brush tool. This is really unfortunate for me because this app was really working for me not that long ago. I'd so much appreciate if that was fixed and I can start animating again.

This app is ridiculously sad. The tutorial is a REALLY long document, that was just poorly designed. The tutorial should have been a guide that shows you what to do, not tell you, and not give absurdly specific details. (Because it's overly detailed) I didn't even take the time to read it because it would just take so long. But, I messed around PLENTY and figured out how things work, and there should be bones for the animating, which I could not find. Also I couldn't find layers. (Which I believe I read in the app description, and the description for the app is long, yet not nearly as long as the tutorial, so if you view the app description you should get my point as to how long it is) the app is simple, but it's not simple to learn due to the tutorial. The main reason why I give it two stars instead of one is because I could have read the tutorial, but it was extremely poorly designed. So really my main reason for rating this poorly is me being too lazy to go through a really long, boring document, but hey, can you really blame me? Shoulda been a visual tutorial!! Honestly, I have found a FREE animation app better than this. I made a whole video series on that! This, this is only good for really short, repeating skits. Which is nice for social media, but I wanted much more out of this. If I could, I would get a refund without being hesitant at all. 2/5, money woulda been spent better on CANDY (which isn't saying much I guess, since, you know... candy)
